Aquilino Peña has been involved in the digital industry since the late 90s and has been involved in all areas of the Business, mainly ecommerce, online marketing and content.
Aquilino has been an active Angel investor and advisor to a number of companies such as BaseKit (UK), Acierto.com, Matrix, Bodeboca, PayCo(Germany), Sage Spain (Advisory Comitee Chairman), Alice (US/España) amongst other relevant projects.
His last corporate assignment was as CEO of MediaEdge:cia for Spain and Portugal, the largest media buying agency of WPP in the region, which manages the marketing investment of over 500 clients in Spain and Portugal. Relevant clients included: Sony Ericsson, Chanel, Henkel, Visa, Paramount Pictures, Accenture, Toys R US,… Before that, he ran all portal activities for Orange Spain, including e-care, e-shop and the large portal network managed by Orange in the Spanish language (up to 40 M monthly active users).
Aquilino started his career as a consultant for The Boston Consulting Group, where he worked at the Madrid office and started up the Sao Paulo office. Aquilino is well known and considered a key person in the European Internet arena. He has been Director and member of the board of the European Interactive Advertising Association (EIAA), Chairman of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB-Spain), board member of the Asociacion Española de Anunciantes (AEA) and board member of @adigital (formerly Spanish Ecommerce Association).
Aquilino received an MBA from the Harvard Business School and holds a dual degree in Law and Business Administration from ICADE and is fluent in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
Aquilino and Javier were classmates at ICADE and close friends since.
Javier Torremocha has more than 16 years of transaction experience with leading global firms like Lehman Brothers (1994-2000) and UBS (2001-2009). In UBS he was Head of Corporate Advisory, where he was solely focused in advising entrepreneurs and family owned companies in corporate finance transactions. In between Lehman Brothers and UBS, he worked as Director of Business Development at Netjuice Capital, an internet VC funded by 3i, GE Capital and FCC with commitments over €60 million. Netjuice owned a 15% stake in Kelkoo.com which was sold to Yahoo Inc. for $575 million in 2004. His responsibilities in Netjuice included fundraising activity, M&A and business development at a holding level and for portfolio companies.
In 2009, Javier moved to San Diego, CA, where he took a Global Leadership Program at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) and gain insight of the dynamics of the early stage US VC industry. He is a the only non-US LP of Social Leverage LLC, a San Diego-based partnership that invests in early stage internet businesses. Social Leverage currently holds a portfolio of 20+ companies, including Stocktwits (recently named “one of the top 10 most innovative companies in web”), Ticketfly, Bit.ly and eToro. In addition, Javier has been an active Angel Investor, including companies like Idealista, Mundivox, Pulsar Technologies and Netjuice.
Javier received an MBA from INSEAD and holds a dual degree in Law and Business Administration from ICADE.
Javier and Aquilino were classmates at ICADE and close friends since. Javier and José María worked together for 5 years at UBS and have known each other for over 15 years.
Jose María Amusátegui
José María Amusátegui is a Founding Partner of Cygnus Asset Management SGIIC SA, the first independent regulated firm approved in Spain to manage hedge funds. He has over 25 years experience in Consulting, Private Equity, Investment and Private Banking. Before joining Cygnus, José María worked for 14 years for UBS (1992-2006) in both the Investment Banking and Wealth Management divisions. Initially based in London and later in Madrid, he was involved in M&A, IPO’s, equity derivative structures while at Corporate Finance. During his years in the Wealth Management side of the business, he launched a Corporate Finance capacity dedicated to private clients (where he worked with Javier Torremocha for 5 years) as well as the Key Clients Group, covering the largest private clients in Spain.
José María began his professional career in 1986 working at the consulting division of Arthur Andersen (now Accenture), gaining experience on information systems, programming and strategic management consulting. Later in 1988 he worked for Advent International, a private equity firm, generating deal flow, doing financial analysis and due diligence.
He holds a Law degree from Universidad Complutense in Madrid and an MBA from ESADE in Barcelona. He has also been designated as a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).

Valeria has over 15 years of experience in venture capital and corporate finance.
She held different financial positions: Client Adviser at UBS Wealth Management, Investment director at VC firm Najeti Capital SCR and executive Director at Circulo Fortuny.
Valeria worked over 10 years for Najeti Capital (VC firm specialized in Biotech). Shw was board member at five of the portfolio companies: Oryzon Genomics, Crystal Pharmaceuticals, Acorde Technologies, Sallen tech and Vision Advance.
She holds a Business Degree from ICADE, MBA from Instituto de Empresa and General Management Program (PDG) from IESE.
Sonia has over 16 years of experience leading digital businesses ranging from online auctions, digital media, online dating, advertising and ad technology. Sonia has also been an Angel investor and advisor to a number of companies such as ideas4all, hiphunters, clippingbook and smartycontent.
Sonia started her digital career at MercadoLibre in 1999, as part of the founding team and country manager of MercadoLibre in Spain. Sonia then moved on to the digital media sector at Prisacom (Grupo Prisa), Spain’s largest media group, where she helped shape elpais.com digital strategy. In 2003 Sonia launched Match.com in Spain, Italy and LatinAmerica and remained country manager in Spain until 2009. Sonia continued to develop her digital career in online advertising at Specific Media (US advertsing network) where she held the position of General Manager for Europe at VINDICO (video adserving) launching the service in the UK, France, Germany and Spain. Sonia has also executed consulting projects for FON (wifi) and smartycontent (video platform).
Sonia’s background is in investment banking where she worked in the Corporate Finance group of Lehman Brothers in London and New York and she has also experience in private equity where she was an associate at 3i in Spain.
Sonia holds a BA degree in Business from ICADE (Spain) and an MBA from Stanford University. Sonia has published two books on networking and social networks in 2004 and 2011, was awarded the Stanford Associate Award (limited to 2,700 alumni worldwide), and is currently Vice President of the Stanford Alumni Association in Spain. She is also member of the International Women Forum. Sonia speaks English, French and German. Sonia joined Lehman Brothers in London with Javier and has known Aquilino since 1999.
Jordi joined Kibo Ventures in March 2017 and focuses on evaluating new investment opportunities, executing live deals and supporting Kibo’s portfolio companies. Prior to joining Kibo, he accumulated operational experience in Deliberry, a groceries delivery startup based in Barcelona, where he was responsible of building up operations, processes and logistics.
Prior to that, Jordi was consultant in Odgers Berndtson Management Consultants, where he had the opportunity to work in many industries such as retail, energy, healthcare, airline transportation and e-commerce. He also worked in KPMG as management consultant and in Everis as a Capital Market analyst.
Jordi holds a MSc in Industrial Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
Joaquin Rebuelta joined Kibo Ventures in March 2014. As part of the investing team, has lead more than 50 financing rounds, and has been actively involved in the portfolio management of Promofarma, JobandTalent, Apartum and Gamelearn among other companies. Joaquin areas of expertise includes marketplace, e-commerce, gaming and SaaS.
Prior to joining Kibo Ventures Joaquin worked for 6 years with leading global firms in London and Madrid. He started his career at Lehman Brothers in 2007 within the Tech and Media team. In 2009 he joined Mediobanca S.p.A. Merger & Acquisitions team where he covered corporate finance transactions in Spain and LatAm. In the Media & Tech sector he worked in transactions involving the leading companies in Spain.
Joaquín holds a double degree in Law (2007) and Business Administration (2008) from Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE) in Madrid.

Juan has more than 8 years of experience in the world of technology, working first as a research engineer, then as a Project manager and Business developer in the defense and security industry at Indra Systems, and finally at Kibo Ventures as a venture capital investment manager, where he has been part of the team since February 2013.
Juan led several projects to equip naval platforms with state-of-the-art defense systems. He also engaged in multiple international initiatives working in business development efforts in Australia and Europe, participating in joint-ventures with US tech partners to develop and design systems and full solutions to increase Indra’s global offer.
Juan holds a BS in Telecommunication Engineering at the University of Massachusetts, where he graduated Magna Cum laude, and a executive degree in Corporate Finance at CUNEF, Madrid.
Alejandro joined Kibo Ventures in September 2017 within a 1-year secondment program from his previous employer, McKinsey & Company. There, he spent nearly 3 years as a management consultant in the Madrid office, where he had the opportunity to work for clients in Spain and Latin America in many different industries: shipbuilding, retail & private banking, engineered stone manufacturing, energy, telecommunications and healthcare. This allowed him to help clients on diverse topics such as digitalization, strategy, operations or organization.
Prior to McKinsey and as part of his international studies, Alejandro worked as a research engineer in two large French companies in the energy sector. First, he did a 4-month internship at the Commissariat à l’Énergie Atomique et aux Énergies Alternatives in Saclay (Paris), where he helped develop a new Particle Image Velocimetry methodology to measure high resolution velocity fields in liquids. Later, he completed a 6-month internship at Électricité de France in Chatou (Paris), where he researched the effect of extremely hot and cold weather conditions on solar and wind energy generation in Europe leveraging Big Data.
Alejandro is an industrial engineer and physicist. He graduated first of class in industrial engineering at the Universidad de Valladolid and he pursued an engineering double degree with the French Grande École Arts et Métiers ParisTech. During his 2-year stay in France for the double degree, Alejandro completed in parallel a Research Master at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris VI), where he obtained Mention Très Bien. He graduated first of class in Physics at the UNED (Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia) and he speaks English, French and German.
Pedro Torrecillas is a Head of Product with business and engineering background. He studied Industrial Engineering at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, where he founded the Entrepreneurship Club. He also participated in the Imagine design thinking program in Silicon Valley.
During his time as a strategy consultant in Strategy& (part of the PwC network after the Booz & Co. acquisition), he was involved in digital strategy and operations projects, mainly with Telefonica and BBVA, both in Europe and LatAm. He also launched PwC Spain’s startup services department and won their national intrapreunership contest.
He started working in a product role during his time as contractor Business Partner at BBVA. In the gaming company Social Point – acquired by Take Two for $276M – he led the company’s main IP, Dragon City, as Product Manager. After that, he joined Jobandtalent and became VP of Product, leading 5 different product teams – product managers, business analysts, designers, engineers and QA people – and Customer Support.
Pedro is currently cofounder at Vernon, a consultancy firm helping growth-stage startups scale their product and engineering practices. He’s also an Expert in Residence at Google Campus Madrid.
Teo has been involved with the tech scene for more than 15 years, managing engineering teams and tech strategy for top-tier internet companies in Spain and the UK. After 3 years working on open source development, he started his startup career as the first engineer Fon (Madrid, 2005-2008). For the last 10 years Teo has led the engineering teams at companies like Busuu, Lyst, ELPAIS.com or Jobandtalent.
He led the software team behind one of the biggest web media outlets in Spain, ELPAIS.com (Madrid, 2008-2010), being responsible for interacting with journalists and product managers and delivering features on a round-the-clock schedule.
At Busuu (London, 2011-2013) Teo was CTO and led the team that supported the language learning product used by 30 million people across the world, including mobile and backend engineers working. He was Head of Engineering at Lyst (London, 2013-2014), a personalised fashion marketplace..
Most recently, at Jobandtalent, Teo was VP of Engineering (Madrid, 2014-2016) he helped grow the technical team and foster an engineering culture, leading software architecture and infrastructure efforts. He was involved in the company strategy, board meeting presentations and fund raising and was instrumental to the delivery of key product features. At peak he led a team of 70 engineers.
Teo is currently cofounder at Vernon, a consultancy firm helping growth-stage startups scale their product and engineering practices. He’s also an Expert in Residence at Google Campus Madrid.
Arya joined Kibo in 2016. A Vizsla breed, is the first member of the crew to actively work remotely. Loyal, high energy and gentle-mannered Arya spends most of its time in parks looking for new entrepreneurs, birds and innovative ideas.
